Chest Rig/ Grab and Go Combo

Many people have asked whether they could use the Grab and Go as a chest rig. When I first designed and tested the Grab and Go, I found that it didn't work very well as a chest rig. The idea of making a combination chest rig and Grab and Go stayed with me, though, and I finally went ahead and designed it and made it.

I can make any of the Grab and Go bags into the Chest Rig/Grab and Go Combo.

The chest rig has the normal 4 point attachments for the shoulder harness, and it has a waist belt. The shoulder harness is adjustable on the front and the back so you can get the cross-piece (on the back) centered between your shoulder blades. The waist belt is also adjustable. The crossed-X harnesses that a lot of chest rigs use aren't very good from a shooter's standpoint because they either ride up your shoulders and rub your neck, or they fall off your shoulders onto your upper arms (especially in the prone position). I used a Vietnam-era H-harness when I was in the Marine Corps and it was very comfortable and stable, so I modified that design to work with a chest rig.

To change from the chest rig configuration to the Grab and Go, you merely unbuckle the four buckles of the shoulder harness; attach the included 6 foot shoulder strap of the Grab and Go on the top 2" buckles; move the waist belt from the lowest 1" buckles to the upper 1" buckles; and then secure the lower 1" buckles under the elastic webbing (so they don't flop around and make noise). Very fast and simple. The shoulder pads are removable, so you can even slide one of them off of the chest rig harness and slide it onto the Grab and Go shoulder strap!

*A note on the straps: I design all of my gear with body armor in mind. If you don't use body armor, you may find that the straps are too long. Not a problem--you can cut the webbing to size, and then reseal the ends with a lighter.
